CPR & AED Training
CPR and AED courses help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies. Adult and pediatric content is available and courses can be tailored to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience. Participants will learn what precautions to take when using an AED on a person in sudden cardiac arrest.
Professional training manikins are used in all CPR/AED courses. Upon completion of the course students receive a CPR keychain with a breathing barrier to ensure they will be ready to perform CPR wherever they go. All certifications issued for CPR and AED are valid for 2 years from the date of course completion. Course length and fees are dependent on components included. |

LifeguardingThe purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency services (EMS) personnel take over.
Participants must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this course. A CPR resuscitation mask and digital manual are included in each course. Certification includes Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer valid for 2 years. Waterfront Lifeguard module available upon request. |
Instructor Level CoursesAmerican Red Cross Instructor courses are designed to give candidates the tools they need to be an informative health and safety instructor. Whether you are interested in certifying staff at your workplace, enhancing your current resume, or starting a small business an instructor course will provide you with the knowledge needed to be an effective educator. The following instructor level courses are available:
Candidates must have a current basic level certification in the course before attending an instructor course. Instructor courses are offered on an "as requested" basis. The purpose of the Babysitter's Training is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. This course is for ages 11-15. Included with the class is a Babysitter's Training Handbook, Emergency Reference Guide, and Training CD-ROM. Participants receive an American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certificate upon completion of the course.
An additional First Aid and CPR course is also available for babysitters. This add on will train babysitters to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in children and infants at the lay responder level. In addition it will provide babysitters with the knowledge and skills necessary to give care in an emergency, help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. This course is only for those that have completed the Babysitter's Training. Included with the class is a Pediatric First Aid/CPR Ready Reference Card and First Aid Kit. Participants receive certifications in American Red Cross Child and Infant CPR (valid for 1 year) and Standard First Aid (valid for 3 years) upon completion. |
